Pass the veggies……

It’s not as bad as I thought. I did it. I stepped on the scale and I only need to drop about 10 lbs. (of pure flab). I even measured my waist, thighs and hips to see if I lose inches. I plan on spending a lot of time at the pool this summer with Petunia and I really don’t want to be concerned with my figure. I’m not looking for a figure like the MILF (not me, personally) Heidi Klum but if the Lord wants me to look like her I would not argue.

So I made the shopping list for the next week and guess what’s on there? A crap load of vegetables, meat, some cheese (low-fat) and eggs. That’s pretty much it.

Ever hear of a glycemic index? A food’s glycemix index is the amount that it increases your blood sugar compared to the amount that the same quantity of white bread would increase it. The foods with lower numbers will cause your blood sugar to rise then fall more slowly then the high numbers. Low-glycemic foods will satisfy your hunger longer and minimize your food cravings better. I took a peak at this glycemic index in the book. Um yeah, pretty much everything I eat has a really high GI. Like 95 and above. See, I told you I had a sugar problem.

So for now no fruit, no graham crackers, no angel food cake, no cookies and no Twizzlers. Even my beloved Cheerios isn’t a great choice. Wow, this Dr. is no fun at all.

My husband said he would do the SB diet with me and then everyday he comes up with another reason why it will be a challenge for him. Excuses, excuses, excuses. Guess he’s not as dedicated as I.

We’ll see how dedicated I’ll be come Monday evening, heck Monday morning for that matter. I do get ricotta cheese with a sugar substitute for dessert, I mean seriously, what’s better than that? Oh, and of course sugar-free jello.

I just keep thinking, it’s only two weeks. That’s nothing. Then of course I can’t go back to the way I ate before. No. That would undo all the good I did. I’ll have to lay off my favorites for a while and eat them sparingly. I think it’s a good eye opener to my poor eating habits. So thank you South Beach. And maybe this year I won’t hate myself in a bathing suit.

Doing some good……
I happened to catch Selma Hayek on Oprah some time ago and she was talking about Pampers & UNICEF teaming up to provide tetanus vaccines to those at risk. Just by purchasing a specially marked pack of Pampers you are giving one vaccine to a mom in a developing world. Remember diapers make great shower gifts!

Bump Watch 2008

Posted in famous people, friends with tags on February 22, 2008 by erin

Apparently, the “in” things these days is not to be just pregnant but pregnant with twins as in the case of J.Lo-AngelenaJolie-JessicaAlba-MarciaCross and if it’s not twins, well you ain’t “in”. Some of these twin cases might just be rumors, what rumors in Hollywood? Are you sure? But I’m pretty sure in J.Lo’s case it’s true since she just pushed? out two babies (not really sure how the babies were delivered since she didn’t call me right after).

Even though these gals are rumored to be pregnant with one child, we’ll allow them “in” since they are celebs and all: KateHudson-Brittaneyagain?-JamieLynn(so sweet, sisters pregnant at the same time-hope you catch my sarcasm)-NicoleKidman-MinnieDriver-Matthew’sgirlfriendwhat’shername-JenniferGarner-EvaLongoia-Fergie-DemiMoore-ToriSpelling-sheesh! I think I could go on FOREVER.

Not only am I not expecting twins but I’m not even pregnant, so therefore I am very “out”! But soon I hope I can add a few friends in this bump watch category!

And speaking of twins, I want to wish my friend ggsmama over at Thing One, Thing Two, A Thing or Two a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY today! Ggsmama and I met this summer at our exercise class and became fast friends. I’m a bit introverted so it’s hard for me to make new friends but I’m so thankful she picked me out of the mommy pack. I think we will be in it for the long haul and hope our kids will become chums too, that’s if P will stop pulling G1’s hair! Check out her blog, I think you just might like her.

I feel the need to wrap up some lose ends on my blog. It’s the anal retentive person in me but I just can’t leave you hanging.

First up, the burley jogging stroller. Some have asked if it’s any good and I have to say it’s great! Rolls over snow, ice and slush and works very well as a jogger. As soon as the temp rises above freezing my tootsies off, I hope to resume my jogging. It also folds up nicely and fits in my car.
I am pumped to hook it to my cruiser this spring and cruise the ‘hood. (Oh, spring when will you come?) I didn’t get to ride the ole cruiser last spring/summer cuz I was pregnant so now I’m itchin’ to ride with little p.

Next up, my facial. So great! I feel so clean and refreshed. Probably going to be a ritual for me. Not the recommend 6-8 weeks though, no, more like 2X a year. (oh no! I’m turning into a girly-girl 🙂 She did a mini massage on my neck, jaw and shoulders which was wonderful and much needed. My skin wasn’t red and so far no breakouts, I guess the “stuff” they use now-a-days doesn’t cause as many breakouts.

It’s sad Heath Ledger died, isn’t it? Not because he was a famous actor but because he was young, seemed like a nice guy and has a little girl. That’s sad no matter who it is.
