White then Red

The Details:

I have lived in CO most of my life.

CO gets something like 360 days of sun a year.

When I didn’t live in CO I resided in WY (with the exception of some time in ID).

WY also gets tons of sun a year (ID not so much).

I am of Swedish, German and Scottish decent.

My skin is white!

It was the first warm day of spring.

In fact it was downright HOT!

I am an adult with a functioning brain.

I stayed out too long WITHOUT sunscreen.

My once white skin is now VERY VERY RED (even my knee caps were burned)!

Three days later my sunburn still hurts.

Maybe my brain is not functioning as it should.

I have invested in large quantities of sun block.

  1. Aaawww — sending you some aloe vera via internet!

We must be on the same wavelength, my post today was about sunburn!

  2. Ouch!! I understand your pain. Freshman year I fell asleep on my stomach at the beach without sunscreen on my legs…literally felt like my muscles had shriveled up. Aloe caked to my legs, it was NOT fun. Lotion, sleep, ibuprofen and a lot of water later, it got better. But still took a while to completely recover. I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Uh oh. After a particularly bad burn duringt a visit to Florida several years ago, I have had THE FEAR literally burned into me. We are talking SPF 60. I feel your pain, I really do. It’s brutal. Feel better soon…

  4. the mama bird diaries Says:

Oh, I’m so sorry about your sunburn. Hope you feel better soon.

  5. bad, bad girl.

  6. Thanks for the well wishes everyone. You shouldn’t feel sorry for me though truth is I’m just an idiot!

  7. Idiot or no, it’s still no fun. Hope you get to feeling better…and remember the sunscreen next time! 😉
